Wilderness RetreatA11By Unilock

The Sheridan Nurseries Award for Outstanding Garden, Small Size

Our design treated visitors to a glimpse of what could be their personal wilderness retreat by thinking outside the box. Wild About StoneA12By Near North Hardscapes Ltd.

Outstanding Use of Structure

We used as much natural stone as we could in this outdoor living design. We wanted the visitor to feel they were entering the outdoor living space of an estate home which was built on an old farm property, having the amenities of an urban outdoor kitchen, the feel of the country, and a taste of the wild.

Taming the WildA13By Royal Stone Landscaping and Design

Outstanding Outdoor Living Spaces

Our main goal was to showcase what is possible in a typical or ‘real life’ application. The current garden trends are taking us into contemporary and sculpted looks. By including clipped boxwood hedges we created a soft edge that ‘contained’ the wildness beyond.

Sacre PotagerA16By Reford Gardens

Sacre potager by Atelier Barda for the International Garden Festival, Le Jardins de Metis/Reford Gardens, Quebec led the visitor into a poetic fiction of the sacred side of garden and culinary heritage. Rare vegetables evoked shrinking biodiversity. Woodland altars were arranged in the garden adorned with votives and invited visitors to make an offering.

Wild, to us, means being able to step out of your urban home into a space that seems so distant and different. Our garden was a wild oasis of an urban backyard. It was a place to unwind, take to the grill and make a toast to friends.
