All About Bees & The Importance of Bee-ing

About Cathy Kozma

By day, Cathy Kozma is an award winning Realtor with Re/Max West.  She is a recipient of the Toronto Real Estate Board’s Civic Service Award for outstanding volunteer contribution to Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs, and has worked with the City of Toronto in the funding of Drug Abuse Prevention Programs.  She is a Toronto Master Gardener, Board Director of the Toronto Botanical Garden, is Past-Chair of the Toronto Beekeepers Co-operative (TBC), and is the Founder of “Bees Are Life Inc.”.  She started urban beekeeping as a hobby in 2004 and now working in partnership with FoodShare, the TBC manages beehives in the City – on the Fairmont Royal York Hotel rooftop, at Downsview Park, in the Toronto Botanical Garden, at Black Creek Farm and at the Ontario Science Centre.  In this role, and her role as a Master Gardener, she enjoys teaching and inspiring a new generation to cultivate their gardens with plants that attract not only bees but also other pollinators.  Cathy is part of the movement to turn “Hogtown into Bee City”.
